In 1837, the rebels on Yonge used the hotel, whkh also served mourners from St. Michael's Cemetery to the south. South of the cemetery was a lot owned by Mr. Granger who established a florist's business lasting into the 1970s. South of Granger was the land of Mr. Hooper who founded one of the very first chains of pharmacies in Toronto.
